You’ve heard about it, several times maybe, but what is Web Hosting?
Web hosting or simply ‘hosting’ is a service provided by companies where they allocate clients a server or space on a server in exchange for a fee.
In this post, I’ll answer a few common questions and offer some recommendations to make the process of selecting a hosting company a little easier.
Let’s start with a short video that uses examples to provide a unique and easy-to-understand explanation that you won’t forget.
How much does Web Hosting Cost?
How much hosting costs and how much it should cost makes for a very interesting discussion (fight).
With thousands of web hosting companies out there, hosting can cost anywhere from a few dollars to a few thousand dollars per month.
What Is The Best Hosting Company?
It’s fair to say that you’re spoiled for choice.
And to be honest, it’s hard to choose one hosting company. Not objectively at least. One of the main ways hosting companies get their clients is by running lucrative affiliate marketing programs.
So when someone tells you that Company X is the best web hosting company, there is a good chance that they will get a commission for recommending Company X.
Our Recommendation(s)
As already mentioned, it’s hard to get an unbiased opinion about the best web hosting platform available.
In the interests of transparency, I should re-iterate (as already iterated at the top of this post), that if you use one of the links in this article and eventually make a purchase, we may make a commission.
That said, I’ll give you not one, but two recommendations! I’m not claiming that these platforms are the best for absolutely everyone, but they are what work best for our needs,
More than 90% of the sites we manage are either on WPMU DEV or Namecheap Hosting. Including this very site.
WPMU DEV is predominantly more expensive than Namecheap, but there are perks that come with the relatively high price tag.
We’re talking one-click staging environments, web application firewalls, dedicated IPs and resources, and the list goes on.
Just keep in mind, WPMU DEV Hosting is only for WordPress websites :). And it’s perfect for starting a blog.
